Mannheim Steamroller Tour Dates
Yikes, is it December!? Well! I looked back at my October letter and thought “Shees! I WISH it was 42’ this morning! ” Brrrrr! Yes, Virginia, we’re headed for the holidays, like kids screaming downhill on a toboggan! Here’s what’s up around here…. First, both of the Mannheim Steamroller troupes are out on the road, and they’re tearing it up—just like I knew they would! Here‘s what Budd McLaughlin wrote this week in the Huntsville (AL) Times:
“From the opening…to the finale…Mannheim Steamroller’s show Sunday was simply breathtaking.” And “Then, to close, it was “Angels We Have Heard on High” in the true Mannheim Steamroller style. The band rocked out to the Christmas classic and the visuals were out of this world with the angels seemingly flying out into the audience. All in all, it was an audio-visual sensory spectacle of songs that could be summed up by a fan who said afterward: “Man, I’m steam rolled!” And he wasn’t the only one”.
Tell you what—that takes some of the sting out of being left at home while everybody else is out on the road! Check out the tour schedule, you might still be able to catch a show!
On a serious note, we all know it’s been a tough year across America—the financial crisis, rollercoaster fuel prices, people nervous about their jobs….And I think it’s been even harder for all the great folks in the armed services and their families. Here at Christmas HQ, we decided to prove that we appreciate the service and sacrifice of these dedicated people. So we started “A Million Reasons to be Thankful”, and we’re giving away one million CD’s to service members around the world and their families here at home. So, guess what? Turns out our newest fans are children! Christmasville, our new album, is just plain fun-- kids are especially wild about “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”—and honestly, doesn’t EVERYBODY love that tune? Grab a copy at your favorite music store or right here on the site.
And, remember---write anytime! We love hearing from you!
Hey, it was 42’F in Omaha this morning—which means the holidays are RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! Time to tell you what’s up here at “Christmas HQ”!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been really jazzed for the holidays by this time in the year. In one way, this is going to be the strangest Christmas since Aunt Bertha spiked the wassail…..
In another way, my family and I have more to be grateful for than ever before: early this year, I underwent major surgery to correct damage to my neck and nerves. I’m recuperating every day, and that’s the good news.
The bad news for me is that I won’t be able to join the Mannheim Steamroller tour this season. I’m really disappointed—I call my situation “Drummer Bummer”. But honestly, every adversity is a new opportunity, and I decided this was the perfect time to “re-invent” the way we do concerts. Every year, we get major feedback from the fans that we don’t do shows in enough towns in the short Christmas season—and it’s been a dozen years since we’ve been able to appear in America’s smaller communities. So, I’m trying something new….
For the first time, there are going to be TWO Mannheim Steamroller troupes touring the country. Some of the faces will be familiar to you; some may be new to you. I went on a big search to find the most talented, most dynamic musicians to join the band-- and I found them! We’ve been rehearsing the past couple weeks, and I was blown away by the energy and quality I saw on stage. In fact, last week was the first time I EVER watched a Mannheim Steamroller show from the audience perspective, and I thought “Wow, this is a really great show!” I think you’ll agree.
So, check out our tour schedule right here on the site. Mannheim Steamroller is going to cover a LOT of ground this season! Remember too, that even if you can’t see Mannheim Steamroller in your own town this year, concert tickets make great gifts for your family and friends around the country!
The East Coast leg of the tour kicks off in Gainesville, FL on November 13th, while the Midwest swing will begin on November 21 South Bend, IN.
